Dennis Trillo Extends Exclusive Contract with GMA Network, Marking 23 Years as Kapuso

At 23 years into his Kapuso journey, Dennis Trillo inked a new chapter on August 4, 2026, reaffirming his status as one of the Philippines’ most respected actors. The renewal ceremony unfolded in GMA’s Studio 6 in Kamuning, Quezon City, where the network’s top brass gathered to witness the signing.

Among the attendees were President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., Executive Vice President and CFO Felipe S. Yalong, and Senior Vice President Atty. Annette Gozon‑Valdez. Their presence underscored the importance of the event to GMA’s leadership, which has long counted Trillo as a cornerstone of its programming.

The contract extension comes after a 26‑year career that has seen Trillo portray a spectrum of complex characters. He first captured national attention as Eric del Mundo in the pioneering gay‑themed primetime series My Husband’s Lover (2013). He later assumed dual roles as Juan Crisóstomo Ibarra and the supernatural Simoun in Netflix’s Maria Clara at Ibarra (2022–2023). More recently, he played Colonel Yuta Saitoh in Pulang Araw (2024) and the tormented inmate Domingo Zamora in the award‑winning film Green Bones (2023). His work has earned him Best Actor accolades from the Metro Manila Film Festival, Gawad Urian, FAMAS, and other national awards.

During the ceremony, Trillo’s co‑stars and collaborators reflected on his influence. Director Dominic Zapata, who helmed Mulawin and Pulang Araw, remarked, “With you, I see not only an actor or an artist, but more so, a co‑creator when we’re working together.” Julie Anne San Jose, his leading lady in Maria Clara at Ibarra, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with him, while Ruru Madrid of Green Bones noted the lessons he has taught him. Alden Richards, who appeared with Trillo in Pulang Araw, added that he hopes to collaborate again.

GMA executives seized the moment to honor Trillo’s loyalty and talent. Senior Vice President Gozon‑Valdez thanked him for trusting the network and called him “one of the best actors of your generation.” President Duavit added a light‑hearted note, joking, “Maraming salamat sa’yo, for the next two decades!”

The network’s public relations team released a video of the signing that has already been viewed more than 200,000 times on GMA’s official YouTube channel, indicating strong audience engagement.

While the renewal does not announce any specific projects, industry observers note that Trillo’s presence remains a key draw for GMA’s primetime lineup. His history of versatile roles and award‑winning performances positions him as a central figure in the network’s strategy to compete with other Philippine networks and streaming platforms.

As Trillo embarks on another chapter with GMA, the network and its audience look forward to future high‑profile projects that build on his legacy as the Kapuso Drama King. The renewal underscores both his enduring commitment to the network and GMA’s confidence in his continued appeal to Filipino viewers.
