Michael Kelly Joins Taylor Sheridans Landman as Series Regular for Season 3
Paramount+ revealed on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026 that veteran actor Michael Kelly will step into the role of William Crockett, the head of the world’s largest oil‑management firm, as a series regular for the third season of the Texas‑oil drama Landman.
Kelly, 57, is best known for his work on House of Cards, Jack Ryan, and the Paramount+ spy series Lioness, where he portrays CIA Deputy Director Byron Westfield. He confirmed the announcement on Instagram, writing, “I am beyond thrilled and excited to be joining the incredible cast over on ‘Landman’ on Paramount+. Thank you to Taylor and everyone for letting me join the party!!”
Landman is a co‑creation of Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace and follows landman Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) as he navigates the cut‑throat world of West Texas oil rigs. Season 2, which premiered on Nov. 16, 2025, focused on the escalating pressure from M‑Tex Oil, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), and the toll of the industry’s secrets. The show was renewed for a third season in December 2025 and is slated to begin production in Fort Worth’s Cowtown district later this month.
Sheridan’s production team—including MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s own Bosque Ranch Productions—has filmed the series on location in Fort Worth, the actor’s hometown. The boomtowns of West Texas provide a gritty backdrop that underscores the series’ exploration of ambition, survival, and the environmental and personal costs of oil extraction.
Kelly’s addition expands an already robust ensemble that features Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, Andy Garcia, Paulina Chávez, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, James Jordan, Kayla Wallace, Colm Feore, and Mark Collie. In interviews, Kelly has highlighted his appreciation for local Fort Worth culture, noting visits to museums such as the Modern in Paris and praising the sushi at Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar.
According to the Paramount+ press release, William Crockett will bring a new dynamic to the series, described as a “titan of industry” who projects efficiency and wealth. The character’s entrance is expected to deepen the narrative focus on corporate influence in the oil sector.
Both seasons of Landman are currently available for streaming on Paramount+. The third season’s production schedule, release date, and episode count have not yet been announced, but the series is expected to continue its exploration of the high‑stakes world of oil in West Texas.
In summary, Michael Kelly’s casting as William Crockett marks the first new regular announced for Landman’s upcoming third season. Production will begin in Fort Worth later this month, and the series will continue to be streamed on Paramount+.
