Uptown Records Reboots for 40th Anniversary with Yung Miami, G Herbo and Trap Dickey on New Roster

Uptown Records, the New York‑based powerhouse that launched Mary J. Blige, Jodeci and The Notorious B.I.G., officially relaunched on June 16, 2026 to celebrate four decades of influence. President Danielle Price Sanders, whose career spans decades of label work, spearheads the revival. The new lineup features solo‑artist Yung Miami, Chicago rapper G Herbo and rising star Trap Dickey.

Yung Miami’s April single “Spend Dat” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 66 and surged to No. 34 within three weeks—her first solo Top 40 hit. The track’s 700 % jump from its debut week underscores its organic momentum. Radio stations added it as their #1 most‑added record at Rhythm, and TikTok creators have used the song more than 500,000 times, positioning it as a summer anthem in major publications.

G Herbo’s album “Lil Herb” opened at #1 on Apple Music’s Hip‑Hop Albums chart and reached #2 on Billboard’s Rap Albums rankings. Its platinum‑certified single “Went Legit” confirms Herbo’s sustained relevance fifteen years into his career.

Trap Dickey’s breakout project “The Ville” earned a BET Award nomination for Best New Artist. His collaboration with Key Glock on “Down South” became the #2 most‑added record at Urban Radio and has surpassed 25 million streams. Top Dawg Entertainment CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith praised the relaunch, noting that “Uptown Records was one of my favorite labels” and that the new partnership “paves the way for labels like TDE.”

The relaunch is part of Republic Collective’s strategy to honor founder Andre Harrell, who established Uptown in 1986 and built a roster that defined late‑1990s R&B and hip‑hop. Harrell’s legacy is reflected in the label’s renewed focus on artist development and entrepreneurial independence.

Danielle Price Sanders highlighted the importance of female leadership. “This is a legendary label being resurrected and run by incredible female record executives,” she said. “I’m excited to continue my solo career with Uptown Records. The level of care and attention to detail they’ve already shown gives me full confidence that everything we’re building will truly elevate me.”

The new imprint’s strategy aligns with current industry trends that prioritize authentic cultural impact over fleeting trends. By blending a storied heritage with a roster of contemporary artists, Uptown aims to stay relevant in the evolving music landscape.

As the relaunch progresses, Uptown Records is expected to announce additional signings and release schedules. The label’s partnership with Republic Collective and its commitment to artist‑centric development position it to influence the next wave of culturally significant hip‑hop and R&B talent.
