June Cinema Lineup Highlights Stradivarius Concert, LGBTQ-Themed Horror, Robin Hood Reimagining, and New Toy Story Sequel

The latest slate of June releases brings a mix of music, horror, action‑drama, and family animation to Australian screens. Palace Films, A24, and Pixar Animation Studios are all set to debut new titles that appeal to a broad range of audiences.

The first feature, The Musicians, is a PG‑rated drama distributed by Palace Films. The story follows Astrid Thompson, who is determined to honor her late industrialist father’s final wish: to bring together four priceless Stradivarius‑stringed instruments for a premiere recital of a new composition by his favourite composer, Charlie Beaumont. With only six days to rehearse, the quartet of musicians must overcome personal differences and prejudice to deliver a live‑streamed performance for music lovers worldwide. The film is scheduled to open in Australian cinemas on 10 June, the same day the 2026 HSBC Spanish & Latin American Film Festival begins.

The festival, which runs until 5 July at Palace Nova Cinemas, is a continuation of the annual event that showcases Spanish‑language and Latin‑American cinema. According to the festival’s official website, the 2026 edition will feature a curated selection of feature films, shorts, and live‑streamed events. The Glam Adelaide coverage notes that the festival’s opening weekend will coincide with the release of The Musicians, offering audiences a chance to experience a culturally significant musical narrative alongside festival programming.

The second release, Leviticus, is a PG‑rated supernatural horror directed by Adrian Chiarella and distributed by Causeway Films & Salmira Productions. The film centers on two teenage boys, Naim and Ryan, who fall in love while a violent entity hunts them. The entity takes the form of the person each boy desires most, forcing the pair to confront the cost of their feelings. Leviticus is slated for a 19 June theatrical release and will be available for streaming on major platforms in the following weeks.

The Death of Robin Hood is a more mature entry, rated MA15+ and distributed by A24. The film stars Hugh Jackman as the legendary outlaw, who is grappling with a violent past after sustaining a severe injury in a battle he believed would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at redemption. The film premiered at the 73rd Sydney Film Festival on 12 June and is scheduled for a wide U.S. release on 19 June. The Guardian review notes that the film presents a revisionist take on the folklore hero, focusing on the psychological toll of violence.

The final title, Toy Story 5, is a G‑rated family animation from Pixar Animation Studios. The plot follows Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the gang as they confront a new tablet device named Lilypad, who brings disruptive ideas about what is best for their child, Bonnie. The film is set to open in Australian cinemas on 10 June, the same day as The Musicians.

All four releases are available for local cinema booking, and audiences are encouraged to check session times at their nearest theatres. The HSBC Spanish & Latin American Film Festival will also feature a special screening of The Musicians on 12 June, providing a unique opportunity to experience the film’s live‑streamed concert element in a cinema setting.

In summary, June’s lineup offers a diverse mix of genres: a music‑driven drama, a horror romance, a gritty action‑drama, and a family‑friendly animation. The releases coincide with the HSBC Spanish & Latin American Film Festival, which continues to bring international cinema to Australian audiences. Filmgoers can look forward to a week of varied storytelling across the country’s cinema screens.
