Daedalic and Tiny Monks Tales Release Extended Demo for Woodo During Steam Next Fest

Daedalic Entertainment and Tiny Monks Tales have released an expanded free demo of their upcoming 3‑D puzzle title Woodo as part of Steam Next Fest. The demo, which runs until June 22, gives players a longer taste of the game’s cozy, wooden‑diorama gameplay and narrative.

Woodo follows the story of Foxy, a city‑born girl who spends a summer in the countryside. The game blends self‑discovery, nostalgia and gentle storytelling. Players assemble wooden scene pieces, each click bringing a new part of the diorama to life. While building, Foxy narrates the scene, adding a warm, supportive voice that the developers say is intended to feel like a comforting presence.

The demo is available on PC via Steam, and on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is slated for later in the month, and a Switch 2 port is expected in the next quarter. According to the demo’s release notes, the new version includes additional scenes and a new trailer that showcases the updated visuals and audio.

The developers have not announced a release window for the full game. Tiny Monks Tales, the studio behind the title, and Daedalic Entertainment, the publisher, have been working on the game for several months. The extended demo is meant to give players a clearer idea of the puzzle mechanics and the emotional tone of the finished product.

The core gameplay of Woodo is described as a “find‑the‑object” puzzle. Players place small wooden objects in their correct positions within a diorama. As each object is placed, the base of the scene slowly fills with color, creating a satisfying visual progression. The game’s art style is intentionally simple and handcrafted, with a 3‑D wooden look that evokes the feel of a toy dollhouse.

In addition to the puzzle mechanics, the developers emphasize the game’s mood‑enhancing qualities. The audio design is meant to be immersive, and the narration is intended to provide emotional support. The team has stated that the goal is to turn a simple puzzle into a “mood‑bettering experience” that can help players feel calm and safe.

Steam Next Fest, which runs from June 15 to June 22, is a free, week‑long event that showcases demos and early access titles. Woodo’s demo is one of several indie games highlighted during the festival. Players who wish to try the demo can download it from the official Steam page, where it is listed as a free, full‑length experience.

The extended demo is the latest update from the developers. While the game’s final release date remains unknown, the demo provides a more complete look at the gameplay and narrative that players can experience for free.

In summary, Woodo’s extended demo is live until June 22 as part of Steam Next Fest. The demo is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, with Switch versions arriving later. The game’s release date has not been announced, and the developers continue to work on the final product.
