Capcom Unveils Four Playable Demos for Gamescom 2026, Including Dragons Dogma 2 Expansion and Mega Man: Dual Override
Capcom is gearing up for Gamescom 2026, unveiling a sprawling 950‑square‑meter booth that will host roughly 60 stations where visitors can dive into four playable demos. The lineup features the newly announced Dragon’s Dogma 2 expansion, Mega Man: Dual Override, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and Street Fighter 6.
The Gamescom event, running from Wednesday, 26 August to Sunday, 30 August at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, will see Capcom occupy Hall 9, Booth A070. The company says the demo stations will let attendees experience each title in depth.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, announced last week during a Nintendo Direct, adds a separate story arc built on feedback from the main game’s release. It is slated for release on 9 October 2026 across PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Mega Man: Dual Override, first revealed at The Game Awards 2025, is set for a 2027 launch on all major platforms—including Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S, and PC. Gamescom will be the first public opportunity to play the title.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword, scheduled for 25 September, had a public demo released earlier this month. Player feedback noted the demo was easier than expected. Producer Akihito Kadowaki addressed the concern on the official Onimusha account on X, stating the demo’s difficulty level will not match that of the full game.
Street Fighter 6 also appears in the playable lineup, though Capcom has yet to disclose further details about its demo.
Capcom’s return follows its participation in Gamescom 2025, where it showcased Resident Evil Requiem and other titles. The 2026 edition also features major exhibitors such as Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Xbox, reaffirming the expo’s status as the world’s largest gaming trade fair.
The 2026 Gamescom is projected to attract around 370,000 visitors and host over 1,000 exhibitors from 56 countries. The expo’s open‑floor area is complemented by a closed area for industry professionals.
Offering four demos reflects Capcom’s strategy to engage players early with upcoming releases. By providing hands‑on experiences for both established franchises and new IPs, the company aims to build anticipation ahead of the 2027 launch window for Mega Man: Dual Override and the 2026 release of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.
Beyond the demos, Capcom’s booth will display promotional material and a showcase of its broader portfolio, including Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Devil May Cry.
The timing aligns with the industry trend of pre‑launch demo releases, a practice that has become standard for major publishers. Capcom’s approach mirrors that of other studios, such as Nintendo’s demo releases for upcoming Switch 2 titles.
Capcom’s participation also highlights its continued focus on cross‑platform releases. With Mega Man: Dual Override slated for all major consoles and PC, the studio reaffirms its commitment to a wide audience.
Gamescom 2026 will conclude on Sunday, 30 August. After the expo, Capcom is expected to sustain promotion of its upcoming titles through additional events and digital marketing campaigns.
For now, the company’s confirmed lineup provides a clear snapshot of its upcoming releases and the broader strategy to maintain engagement with its fan base leading into the next year.
