Nightdive Studios Unveils Gameplay Trailer and Steam Demo for SiN: Reloaded, Targeting 2026 Multi-Platform Release

Nightdive Studios has pulled the curtain on its long‑delayed SiN: Reloaded with a fresh gameplay trailer and a Steam demo, signaling a return to action after a three‑year hiatus. The release comes as the studio confirms that the classic 1998 first‑person shooter will finally see a modern launch, re‑energizing a title that once promised but never delivered on its full potential.

Nightdive’s announcement also spells out a 2026 release window, with SiN: Reloaded slated for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC before year‑end. Available through major digital storefronts—Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Marketplace, and Nintendo eShop—and possibly in physical retail bundles, the multi‑platform rollout underscores the studio’s strategy to bring legacy IP to every major console and the PC market, positioning the title for a broad audience of both nostalgic veterans and newcomers.

SiN, the 1998 first‑person shooter originally developed by Ritual Entertainment and published by Activision, follows Colonel John R. Blade as he hunts a recreational drug linked to the biotech conglomerate SinTek amid the dystopian megacity of Freeport in 2037. Built on a modified Quake II engine, the game earned praise for its level design and fast‑paced combat, but persistent technical glitches and limited marketing capped its commercial success. Despite modest sales, the title cultivated a dedicated cult following, and its expansion, Wages of SiN, added depth to the narrative. Nightdive’s decision to revive the IP reflects that enduring interest.

Nightdive secured the rights to SiN in 2020 and reissued the base title and its Wages of SiN expansion as SiN: Gold in March of that year. A remaster, SiN: Reloaded, was announced in September 2020 with an initial 2021 launch target. The project was put on hold in 2023 to focus on other priorities, notably the System Shock 2 remaster, after a brief pause announced by the studio. But March 2024 saw Nightdive confirm that the remaster is back on track, moving closer to a 2026 release.

Powered by Nightdive’s proprietary KEX Engine, the remaster promises up to 4K resolution at 144 frames per second on high‑end PCs, along with enhanced anti‑aliasing, high‑definition textures and models, and refreshed 2D and menu artwork. The KEX Engine also enables cross‑platform compatibility, allowing the game to run on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC. Players will be able to toggle between the new visuals and the original SiN Gold experience, preserving the nostalgic feel while showcasing modern polish. Performance benchmarks indicate a significant frame‑rate boost compared to the 1998 release.

Beyond visual upgrades, the remaster revises control schemes, reworks campaign maps, adds achievements, and keeps the original online multiplayer mode intact. The studio’s focus on preserving core gameplay while enhancing accessibility aligns with its broader preservation strategy, which has included projects like System Shock 2. Former VP of business development Larry Kuperman told Polygon in March 2024 that Nightdive’s two key obligations are System Shock 2 and SiN, with the latter having been set aside during critical periods. The added achievements aim to reward both new players and longtime fans.

The Steam demo is now live, giving players a glimpse of the enhanced graphics, smoother controls, and revamped campaign, including the ability to toggle between the original and remastered visuals. While the studio has not yet set a definitive launch date, it has reaffirmed that SiN: Reloaded will debut on all listed platforms before the end of 2026. With the trailer and demo now in circulation, Nightdive Studios has reignited interest in a title that has long been a cult favorite, promising a polished, multi‑platform release that balances nostalgia with modern performance.
